What is more important: a degree or work experience? And do female and male employees earn the same? That and more is shown in the Berlin Startup Study released today which we examined. Small spoiler: It seems Berlin-based startups pay better than those outside Germany’s capital.

Orderbird raises €20 million

Speaking of money: Berlin-based payment startup Orderbird offers a tablet register solution for gastronomy. Today, it announces a €20 million Series C led by Digital+ Partners, along with strategic investor Metro Group. Existing investors joined.

Cherry Ventures starts new €150 million fund

Cherry Ventures, started by two former Zalando managers (later joined by Citydeal and Quandoo founder Daniel Glasner) is known for its investment in Amorelie, Flixbus, and Lesara. With its new €150 million fund the VC will continue to focus on early stage startups and consumer tech. The goal is to make 15 investments per year. Each will be between €300,000 and €1 million large. Cherry Ventures will request between 10 – 15 percent equity.
