Berlin-based startup 6Wunderkinder has announced a new release date of February for its highly anticipated Wunderkit app as well as new roll-outs of Wunderlist to BlackBerry and Windows 7 devices.
6Wunderkinder had a whirlwind 2011, with Wunderlist – the company’s massively popular To-Do list app – released on six platforms, including a performance-boosting appearance on Apple’s app store. It’s now been announced that BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 versions will be ready for the market in 2012.
But the big news is that Wunderkit, the full-blown desktop and mobile organisational big brother to Wunderlist, will now be released in February 2012. Initially mooted for release at the end of 2011, 6 Wunderkinder admitted that they ran into some issues, so decided to delay release until they were completely satisfied.
Wunderkit is now in closed beta, with around 150 users testing before the big public beta launch next month. First to get their hands on the new service will be anyone who Tweeted from the PICNIC event in September last year, followed by any sign-ons from the website. This will then be followed by an open invite system whereby users can issue friends with email invitations.
Wunderlist has also been nominated for an accolade at the 2011 Best App Awards in the Productivity section. Despite the title, voting is still open, so we’ll be watching with interest to see if the app can bag an award.
