A week in the village – A roundup of our hottest headlines (25 Feb – 2 Mar 2012) Written by Linsey Fryatt on 2. March 2012

This week is hotting up in tech town Berlin, and we’re more excited than a chimpanzee riding on a Segway at the amount of awesome events and stories that we’ve managed to scoop up in seven days.
spatschichtWe’ll kick off with what is obviously the hottest story of the week – Gruenderszene and VentureVillage’s very own Spätschict event. Berlin’s startup stars shone at the glitzy event held in Mitte and made full use of our famous Fotobox.
You can see all the action in our video – which also includes awesome bloopers. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to view in all its glory…
If you’re an aspiring hotshot who wants on the guestlist for the next Spätschicht event, you’d better read UPcload founder Asaf Moses’ tips for how to take flight in business.
Facebook ID cardsWe also took a trip to the future with artist Tobias Leingruber, creator of Facbook ID cards. The cards are being issued this weekend and, given Google’s new hold over your data, these might not be as far-fetched as you think.
Elsewhere, we visited – a great peer-to-peer fundraising concept and our favourite company this week. Find out how they’re changing the face of social enterprise one donation at a time.
Video gidsyWe also took to the streets with Gidsy and tried our some of their best Berlin tours in our exclusive video – be prepared for some death-defying stilt action and some dangerous ice-scapades from our Elaine.
Elsewhere, Berlin was representing on an international scale yet again, at the BeMyApp Olympics. The Berlin victors, UnlockYourBrain were pipped to the post, but are still looking for Alpha testers. And we also attended Photo Hack Day – another 48-hour hackathon with EyeEm that saw some awesome new inventions using its API.
Wow. You probably need an awesome video juice to wash down all this lunchtime content. Enjoy!
