Online task management tool 6Wunderkinder, has today received a financial boost of 4.2 million US dollars from world-class venture capital company Atomico. The leading London-based firm, led by Skype co-founder Niklas Zennstrom, commended 6Wunderkinder’s traction in the market and huge opportunities ahead: “We were particularly impressed by the international outlook of the team, and the potential for growth in markets across the world,” he said. The multi-million dollar investment was secured during a Series A financing round, alongside an additional boost from German VC High Tech Gruenderfonds, for an undisclosed sum.

6Wunderkinder’s Wunderkit coming in December

6Wunderkinder currently offers a free cross-platform, cloud-based task management tool called Wunderlist. So far, the product has been downloaded more than 3.5 million times and has 1.5 million registered users. The application, which was launched in November 2010, allows users to make detailed ‘to do’ lists that are easy to navigate and can be shared with friends, family and colleagues. The company is now preparing to launch its new platform called Wunderkit. The product will provide users a central place for organising personal and professional work, with a focus on social interaction.

Today’s cash injection will fast-track Wunderkit’s development process and add additional employees across marketing and sales teams. The new funds will also allow the Berlin start-up to meet growing international demand and advance its technology. CEO of 6Wunderkinder Christian Reber, said he was thrilled with partnering up with Atomico: “We will (now) be able to scale our products, radically disrupt the productivity marketplace and reach millions of new customers all over the world,” he said. Wunderkit’s beta version is expected to be released before Christmas.
