Berlin-based take €1m in ProSieben pitch competition Written by Linsey Fryatt on 9. November 2012, the Berlin-based startup that aims to eradicate text on our mobiles has won a €1m prize at the recent SevenVentures pitch day at Noah Conference 2012 in London.

Danielle Reid and Espen Systad of

The team, part of the inaugural StartupBootcamp Berlin roster, takes personalised content-aggregration from text to speech, creating a personalised, spoken news feed on your iOS device. It won the third spot in the prestigious Pitch Day, judged by pitch veterans Lars Hinrichs of HackFwd, Saul Klein of Seedcamp and representatives from Accel, Advent, ProSieben and KKR.
Second prize went to Wynsh, a Hamburg-based shopping app, while London’s Busuu –a social network for language learning with over 25 million users – scooped the €4m first prize.

The StartupBootcamp effect

Espen Systad, Norwegian Co-founder of said: “This was a great experience, we’re thrilled, especially when some of the teams are so far advanced in comparison to us. I mean, we don’t even have a product yet!
“There’s absolutely no way we would have been here if we hadn’t been on StartupBootcamp. It moved us along so fast to have access to the mentors’ network and working so closely with other startups.”
As well as working on their final product, due to launch in summer next year, the team will be devising a TV advertising campaign – the €1m is in ProSieben media advertising time… so look out for all the winners coming to a TV screen near you.
