The Weekly Lowdown: Berlin’s top startup events (Jan 23-29) Written by Linsey Fryatt on 23. January 2012

Yet again, the Venture Village team has sniffed out the truffles of tech tidbits that will be rocking our world in the next seven days – here’s our lowdown on the best startup and networking events happening in Berlin this week…

Monday January 23

If you want to become a one-person radio show, then the Apple User Group of Berlin will be meeting to hold a workshop on how to record, edit and publish podcasts – all done on a Mac, of course. Head over to Go-Go Hatchi for 6.30pm.

Tuesday January 24

If you want to get into bed with Amazon, the Java User Group Berlin-Brandenburg will host a talk by Jans Borchers from the Amazon team on how to use Amazon Web Service Tools for deployment and integration. The event will be held at GLS Campus, Kastanienallee 82, 4pm until 9pm.

Wednesday January 25

If you like business and beer, then you’ll love the “Business and Beer” meeting at Gründerhaus von profund in der Altensteinstraße 44b (try saying that after a few Dunkels) – a relaxed networking event for business bigwigs to swap contacts and inspiration.

Thursday January 26

If you want to join the Berlin Twitterati, then today is a big day in the Berlin tech calendar, as Twitter is holding its first developer event in the city. Latest platform developments and an overview of the Twitter API suite will be discussed at Berlin Dev Teatime. There will also be an in-depth technical session, followed by demos by Berlin startups, including Soundcloud. The event will be held at Mobile Suite Coworking, Pappelallee 78/79, from 6pm until 9pm, but spaces are limited so signup here if interested.

Friday January 27 – Sunday January 29

If you want to give your thumbs and brain a workout, Global Game Jam this Friday is an event that sees participants in 160 cities worldwide create experimental games that will be collected and uploaded onto the main website at the end of the week for users to download and enjoy. There’s a €20 participation fee, and spaces are limited, so head to the website for more information.
