German-born Fabian Thylmann, founder and CEO of Manwin, one of the world’s largest online porn providers, is a heavyweight in the porn industry. Now, Thylmann is taking a step back from the world of adult entertainment and selling his shares in Manwin to the company’s “top management team” for an undisclosed amount.
Manwin is the owner of well-known online portals such as YouPorn, RedTube, Brazzer PornHub and Playboy Plus and a host of others.
It’s not clear why Thylmann left the company but, in a letter to his employees published on adult news site Xbiz, he wrote: “It is with a sad heart that I have to announce that I have decided to sell Manwin to Manwin’s top management team. Please believe me that this decision has been one of the hardest in our lives for both my wife and myself… Both myself and Manwin are at a stage where I can no longer add significant value to the best of my ability.”
Thylmann last attracted significant media attention in December 2012, when he was arrested in Belgium and extradited to Cologne under suspicion of tax evasion. He is reported to have denied avoiding tax, claiming he was only trying to minimise his tax burden, and was released after paying a seven-figure sum.
Manwin, launched in 2007, claims to be one of the top five bandwidth consumption companies in the world, producing more than an estimated €100m in yearly revenue. The company is headquartered in Luxembourg with multiple global offices including in Hamburg, London, Dublin, Montreal, Nicosia and Burbank and employs about 1000 staff.
