This changes everything. "The world's coolest GIF animator" now rocks SoundCloud tracks Written by Linsey Fryatt on 21. November 2012

Loopcam raises the LOL levels by announcing partnership with new mashup editor Weavly

The problem with GIFs is that they’re eerily quiet. It’s like peering in at a party from outside the double-glazing, shivering in the garden while everyone’s doing the conga inside.
But that’s all about to change. Loopcam, the hotly tipped Berlin-based GIF animator that allows you to construct easy mini films from your iPhone stills, has announced a strategic partnership with brand-new desktop video mashup service, enabling users to soundtrack Loops using SoundCloud, as well as smash the GIFs together with YouTube clips in one big migraine-inducing multimedia frenzy.
Loopcam, the much-hyped app, backed by Christophe Maire, Felix Petersen and Passion Capital and which promises to “turn your life into GIF loops” will now be available on Weavly, the first project to use the brand-new Loopcam API.
Here’s an example Weavly of the Loopcam team at work:

Loopcam + Weavly = LOLs²

Weavly is one of the teams to emerge from this year’s Startupbootcamp Berlin programme – and has already attracted attention from the likes of the Huffington Post, Felix Petersen of Amen and us here at VentureVillage.
There have been various homespun experiments at adding sound to GIFs, such as GIF Sound, which has proved a hit on Redddit, with its own Subreddit scoring 14,000 subscribers, but nothing that is as potentially as easy to use, create and share as this pairing, although editing is desktop-only at the moment (you can transfer your Loops made on the iPhone app over pretty easily).
Continued after the break…

Loopcam CEO Tor Rauden Källstigen agreed: “The possibility of mixing our loops with sound is extremely thrilling… We can’t wait to release the creativity of our community into Weavly.”
Oliver Lukesch, Weavly Co-Founder and CEO added: “Capturing your favourite moments with Loopcam is an amazing experience. Loops are an endless source of fun and really addictive, mixing loops with sounds and videos is just taking this to another level.”
