Rocket Internet expands into Brazil with CupoNation launch Written by Michelle Kuepper on 10. January 2013

Rocket Internet’s coupon portal CupoNation has announced the launch of a Brazilian platform. The website, which began in India and is available in Poland, is focused on expanding into developing markets.

CupoNation offers customer savings via discount coupons, deals and voucher codes for partner websites, predominately from the eCommerce segment. The site arguably works as a mechanism to promote traffic to other Rocket Internet portfolio companies, with Dafiti and Westwing prominently displayed on the Brazilian site.

CEO of CupoNation Brazil, Maria Fernanda de Azevedo Antunes Junqueria, gave The Next Web a rundown on the company’s future plans:

“Our expectation is to pass the 1,000 partner mark over the next six months. We want to retake the original voucher code sale concept, which comes from the US, and features well-known brands offering discounts, to create customer loyalty and boost their sales.”

Rocket Internet has been capitalising on the lucrative Brazil market – where the eCommerce sector is rapidly growing, driven by a burgeoning middle class. Rocket now backs 14 companies in Brazil, including Zalando clone Dafiti, GlossyBox, MyTaxi rival Easy Taxi and 21Diamonds.
