Berlin startup Holoplot wins SXSW award

The Berlin-based audio tech startup Holoplot took home the Interactive Innovation Award at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas. Holoplot, which generates wave fields, which lets users send “planar audio waves” and create “virtual acoustic rooms,” won in the Music and Audio Innovation category. The startup competed with other young companies from around the world.

Cleaning startup Helpling raises €10 million

The Berlin-based cleaning platform Helpling raised €10 million from investors. The startup, which is backed by Rocket Internet, helps connect independent cleaners with private clients. Helpling says they plan to use the investment to roll-out other household-related services. There is currently no interest in expanding to other markets, they share.

Inselberg receives 6-digit investment

Inselberg, a Berlin-based startup, announced a 6-digit investment. The startup claims to be Europe’s first go-to booking platform for models, actors and influencers. The platform lets users manage a lookbook, find clients and measure their progress to see how their career is developing.

Simplesurance reaches €30 million in fresh capital

Simplesurance, a Berlin-based insurance-tech startup, announced another financing round in the millions, without realasing the exact sum. However, previous financing rounds put the total amount funding at around €30 million. This is the sixth funding round according to Crunchbase. The startup, which launched in 2012 is active in 28 lands and operates the website Schutzklick in Germany. Here users can quickly find insurance for items like iPhones, bikes and glasses.

Gestigon bought up by French car supplier

The Lubeck-based startup Gestigon was bought up by the French car supplier Valeo. The startup, which offers a software that detects drivers’ gestures, will now be used by Valeo for self-driving cars. Neither company shared the acquisition price.

Solarisbank raises €26 million, expands to Asia

The Berlin-based FinTech Solarisbank announced closing a €26 million ($27.6 million) Series A round. SBI Group, a Japanese FinTech investor and Bertelsmann via Arvato Financial Solutions, joined previous investors Finleap, Hegus and Yabeo in the recent funding round. Solarisbank’s CEO, Roland Folz, told Gründerszene that the startup plans to use this money to expand to Asia in 2018.

E-bike startup Fazua raises €3 million

The Munich-based electric bike startup Fazua announced raising €3 million in a Series B round. Investors included High-Tech Gründerfonds, Bayern Kapital and several business angels.
