Minubo Receives An Additional seven-digit funding round

The Hamburg-based startup Minubo has announced an additional funding round from investors HTGF, Seedcamp, and Stephan Schambach. The startup develops business intelligence solutions for online shops.

SoundCloud about to raise $150 million

SoundCloud, Berlin’s popular music and audio-sharing service, is in discussions to raise about $150 million in new financing. The valuation is expected to top $1.2 billion, according to two people with knowledge of the negotiations. Towards VentureVillage SoundCloud decided not to comment.

Tengelmann wants to invest in Rocket’s Shopwings

Shopwings, a that launched in Munich in October, hands out 35% for €10 million to Tengelmann. The Tengelmann Group has already invested in e-commerce startups such as Zalando and Westwing, which both are Rocket startups as well. Shopwings’ competitor Instacart has just raised more than $100 million.


$36 Million for First Data Center OS

Mesosphere announced today its $36 million Series B round. The round was led by new investor Khosla Ventures with additional funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Fuel Capital, SV Angel and other unnamed investors. The latest funding brings the total investment to-date to $50 million. Also, the company just launched its first OS.

Helpling about to close another €20 million investment

Though the deal is not signed yet, sources report about another €20 million investment for Rocket’s cleaning service platform Helpling. Names of investors were not mentioned. Just last weeks, Rocket announced €13.5 million Series A round.

Delivery Hero takes majority stake in Baedaltong in Asia

Delivery Hero has been working on its expansion in Asia, and has a new announcement in Korea. It has taken a majority stake in it major Korean competitor Baedaltong.

Berlin-based startup Spendino is bought by Grün Software

After six years, the Berlin-based software startup spendino is sold. The new owner is located in Aachen, but the company will stay in Berlin.

Axel Springer lifts stake in digital classifieds joint venture for €446 million

The German publishing house Axel Springer is spending €446 million in cash to lift its stake in a digital classified advertising joint venture from 70 to 85 % as part of its efforts to shift from print to digital media.

ProSiebenSat.1 enters into a media-for-equity deal with Travador

The Munich-based travel startup Travador has entered into a media-for-equity deal with ProSiebenSat.1. The media company has received a 15% stake in Travador.

Blinkist lets you read and listen to a non-fictional book in 15 minutes

While for some reading is a matter of joy, others only want to increase their knowledge. This is often the case when the material is considered educational reading instead of a fictional novel. With the update, Blinkist 3 offers reading or listening to one book’s 15 minute summary per day to non-paying users. Subscribers have unlimited access to the over 500 summaries published on the platform.

Zalando to release curated shopping service in spring 2015

Similar to Outfittery, Zalando plans to start a curated shopping service. 30-40 stylists will start assist female and male costumers.

Meet Twilio, The San Francisco Startup Set to Disrupt Telecommunications in Germany

Twilio’s aim is to make communication more meaningful, relevant, and contextualized. The startup is software in the cloud that lets companies get phone numbers all around the world and use those phone numbers to make or receive phone calls and text messages. Besides Airbnb and Uber, it is also used in the car sharing service DriveNow and in the Hamburg-based communication app Familonet.

EuropeanPioneers started in Berlin

12 startups covering E-learning (elopitco, konnectID, Livecoding), Gaming (Zylia,Musselabs, GameGenetics, TobyRich) Smart City Services (Avuxi, Smartdrive, 3Desk Peoplegraph) and Connected TV (Appscend, We love Cinema) started the 8 month long accelerator program EuropeanPioneers in Berlin today. The startups receive between €50,000 – €250,000 in financial support without equity exchange.


German Chancellor Angela Merkel speaks out against net neutrality

Last week on Thursday Merkel spoke out against net neutrality, stating that some key services for the digital economy would require reliable transmission quality and should therefore be treated differently than other data.
