2016 University Founder’s Events
We wrote about founding a start-up while in school here. As part of greater investment in young talent, many universities have started incubating and fostering ideas. These universities know that students have great entrepreneurial potential and have organized the below events to showcase talent while providing a platform to take new ideas to the next level. Here’s our round-up of university founder’s events for the year.
Jacobs Startup Competition (Jacobs University, Bremen)

JSC is a start-up competition for students. It helps students get from an idea to a business in just two months, by providing networking and mentoring experience. Final ideas are pitched at the competition on the Bremen campus.
Start Summit (University of St. Gallen, Switzerland)

START Summit is the conference for students and start-ups to connect with investors, corporates and media in St. Gallen, Switzerland. In 2016, START Summit is bringing together 1.500 attendees and more than 300 founders for a three-day event full of keynotes, workshops and networking events.
Startup Camp (Humboldt University)

Startup Camp connects founders with experienced entrepreneurs, investors, early adopters, and co-founders from all over Europe. The Conference will feature keynote speeches with insights and knowledge-sharing from startup veterans and industry experts.
EBSpreneurship Forum (EBS University for Business and Law)

From a team of 30 highly motivated EBS students, this conference is for upcoming entrepreneurs, established start-ups and leading investors. It includes workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities.
IdeaLab! (WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management)

The IdeaLab! conference is known for creating an unique and intimate atmosphere, enabling you to have great conversations – way beyond the usual “business-card-exchange-networking” events. The two-day event includes speeches, meals and workshops.
