Vodafone brings LTE mobile speeds to Germany with HTC Velocity Written by Linsey Fryatt on 8. February 2012

htc velocity

htc velocityHold on to your handsets, Germany is about to get its first smartphone running on the new super-fast LTE network. The HTC Velocity has been confirmed by carrier Vodafone.
The handset, also known as the HTC Vivid and HTC Raider in different territories, is capable of next-generation data transfer rates (rates of up to 1Gbit/s) which is noticeably faster than the current 3G offering.
In an article on Computer Woche, mobile operator Vodafone confirmed that it will be carrying the HTC Velocity, which comes complete with a 4.5in touchscreen, speedy 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB flash memory. There’s also an 8MP camera and a pretty ordinary 1.3MP sensor.
But the big news is of course support for the new dualband LTE standard, which offers super-fast data transfer and is beginning to roll out over Europe to eventually replace existing 3G networks. This announcement sets the standard for other handset manufacturers and networks to follow.
Vodafone has yet to offer a price or release date, but expect to see it gracing a shelf near you soon.
