Buy Now gets official German launch Written by Linsey Fryatt on 22. February 2012, the awesome music-sharing app that allows you to broadcast as your very own radio station has today announced its official release in Germany.
The Berlin-based startup made the first steps towards world domination this afternoon launching out of beta and straight onto the iTunes App Store for the German public – and it’s free.
The brainchild of Philipp Eibach, was launched in July 2011 and not only lets musicians and DJs produce and broadcast original music, but it also lets local users stream their personal playlist to listeners nearby.
Essentially iPhone users can create web-based radio stations based on their music libraries which they can broadcast in their vicinity. Users can message one another and list their broadcasts on Facebook.
Today marks the official release on the iTunes app store for German users, with the next planned stages being a US release followed by Europe and the rest of the world.
A post on the blog stated that “2012 is going to be a big year” for the company and that they hope to “change the way people socialize around music”. An Android version of the app is scheduled for release in the second half of 2012, with a Windows one to follow.
With investment from VC firm Hasso Plattner Ventures, is planning geographical expansion in 2012 too: “The next step on our roadmap is the very important US market, which will coincide with us previewing at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin this March,” says Eibach. “Afterwards we will continue with France and Great Britain where we already have a solid and loyal fan base awaiting its release”.
In the UK, will partner with digital music provider 7Digital in a move hoped to circumvent any sticky copyright issues.
